Who we are
QuantumWise is a privately owned company, headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. We sell our software products to companies, government labs, and universities around the world through direct sales as well as an extensive network of distributors. We also have local representation in Singapore and the US. Currently more than a dozen leading corporations and over 100 research institutions are using our products.
QuantumWise was started in 2008, but its history actually goes back much further, via the company Atomistix (founded in 2003), which brought the original version of the academic transport code TranSIESTA into the commercial marketplace under the name TranSIESTA-C.
What we do
Our company specializes in fast and reliable atomic-scale modeling solutions, delivered via an easy-to-use interface. The software package is called Atomistix ToolKit (ATK).
Unlike other providers in this area, we develop our own quantum-mechanical code from bottom up. In fact, to the best of our knowledge, ATK is the only DFT code developed commercially. This means that we have complete control of the methods used, and we can modify them as needed, to add new functionality or improve the performance, etc.
ATK as such is a complete package, ready to be applied to a broad array of problems within atomic-scale modeling. However, we also do customized development to deliver functionality to fit a particular customer's specific requirements. These features can then either be released as part of the public package, or delivered exclusively to the customer. Another type of customization is if a client already has codes (in-house or publicly available) that he would like to integrate into our platform.
The software development in QuantumWise follows an agile/scrum approach, which allows us to quickly deliver new features to the market. Our software is a constant work in progress, with short release cycles. Our development is test-driven, and we spend a lot of energy on ensuring the quality of our software to make it as reliable as possible.
Our aim and philosophy
Our primary aim is to commercialize the most advanced simulation techniques within atomic-scale modeling, in order to enable their usage in a commercial setting. This requires knowledge not only of the methods, but also an insight into how such tools are used when companies attempt to extract commercial gain from novel technologies such as nanotechnology. QuantumWise thus positions itself as a facilitator, by interacting with the research community via e.g. EU framework programmes on the one hand, to extract state-of-the-art methods and techniques, and companies that seek to utilizie these tools on the other, where we strive to package these advanced numerical tools in an easy-to-use package.
However, we do not just package a ready solution, developed by someone else, but rather we have the in-house expertise to develop novel functionality. What this means for our customers is that we can design customized solutions, also very advanced ones, to study problems for which currently there are no software tools available on the market.
